Letters to the Editor: From the Current Supervisor
To the editor:
For these last eight years, I’ve represented the residents of northwest Mequon on the County Board. Thanks for trusting me with this responsibility — a standout in a lifetime full of responsibilities. As I step down, I’m following the race that will determine my successor. You should too.
It’s unsurprising my opponent in the past two elections, Dan Eastman, threw his hat into the ring for a third time, despite voters rejecting him by double digit margins. However, I was stunned that his responses to this newspaper’s “know your candidate” series excluded any mention of his most colorful political credential.
Mr. Eastman was a “Release the Kraken” attorney who sued to overturn the 2020 election. Although the suit was quickly thrown out for filing errors, lack of evidence and unsupported legal arguments, he continued theorizing election conspiracies. Google “Mike Lindell and Dan Eastman” to hear them on MyPillowGuy’s “news channel.” A Lindell Media press release says Mr. Eastman was appointed as their chief counsel last year. It’s curious (or maybe not) that Mr. Eastman failed to highlight these candidate bona fides.
As county supervisor, I spent dozens of hours examining Mr. Eastman’s voter fraud claims with the county clerk, municipal voting officials and even the county prosecutor. There’s nothing to see here, folks — except a tested, proven and well-run system with checks and balances.
I’m not a member of either party. In my eight years on the board, my strongest voice was reserved for when partisan politics encroached on the pragmatic functioning of this body. Regardless of how you voted in the last national election, hyper-partisanship does not serve our best interests on the non-partisan County Board.
Fortunately, we have a level-headed, accomplished and uniquely qualified moderate alternative in Dr. Jen MacKinnon who will get my vote, and hopefully yours.

“I support Jennifer Mackinnon because I know she cares about conserving natural areas and preserving the rural character of our community today and for future generations. Jen's approach to environmental conservation and public health is practical, science‑based, and rooted in the belief that environmental stewardship of Ozaukee County protects our quality of life.”
